What is body fluid?

Body fluids are liquids originating from inside the bodies of living humans. They include fluids that are excreted or secreted from the body. Human blood, body fluids, and other body tissues are widely recognised as vehicles for the transmission of human disease.

Bodily fluid includes the following:

· Aqueous humour and vitreous humour

· Bile

· Blood serum

· Breast milk

· Cerebrospinal fluid

· Cerumen (earwax)

· Endolymph and perilymph

· Female ejaculate

· Gastric juice

· Mucus (including nasal drainage and phlegm)

· Peritoneal fluid

· Pleural fluid

· Saliva

· Sebum (skin oil)

· Semen

· Sweat

· Tears

· Vaginal secretion

· Vomit

· Urine
